The Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admission is responsible for coordinating and managing the University’s recruitment of Hispanic, Latino,Latina, Latinx students. The bilingual Assistant Director will lead the planning and implementation of new recruitment strategies as well as assist with marketing and communication efforts to engage and attract a greater share of Hispanic, Latino, Latina,and Latinx students. Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Admission for Transfer and Strategic Partnership Programs, the Assistant Director will collaborate with others within Enrollment Management and across the university to ensure successful recruitment, enrollment and transition strategies are developed and executed. To assist in these efforts, the Assistant Director may also provide supervision to student employees within the Office of Recruitment and Admission. In addition, the Assistant Director will contribute to achieving overall recruitment and enrollment goals for the institution, including participation in activities and events that serve all prospective students and families. The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and highly talented engineer to manage and perform metal additive manufacturing (AM) research onsite at Wright Patterson Air Force Base - AFRL. Work will include oversight and management of a new AM lab, personnel, and research in metallic additive manufacturing via Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). This position will work with AFRL engineers/scientists to perform research designed to better understand the effects of laser manufacturing processes on materials. Work activities may include: 1. Demonstrating metal AM printing performance 2. Designing, printing, and consulting on buildability of specimens 3. Planning and executing experiments 4. Operating, maintaining, calibrating, and customizing laser powder bed fusion machinery 5. Integrating and modifying in-situ process sensors 6. Collecting and analyzing AM build data, including in-situ process monitoring data 7. Building and routing of specimens for characterization and testing 8. Interfacing and advancing AM modeling and control codes 9. Interfacing with data collection and management tools 10. Creating lab workflows 11. Implementing lab management strategies 12. Creating and modifying 3D CAD models of simple coupons through complex components (e.g. in Solidworks) This position will oversee the work of a lab technician and work with a team of AM research scientist to operationalize and run a new additive manufacturing research lab.

Operating, in-situ sensors/suites for laser powder bed fusion machinery 4. Collecting and analyzing AM build data, including in-situ process monitoring data 5. Working with analysis tools to extract physical meaning from in-situ process data 6. Interfacing with machine learning, NDE, and characterization expertise at UDRI and AFRL to correlate in-situ process data to other data sources 7. NMR Chemist Fuels Engineering - 250322
The primary position responsibilities includes leading the development of solid-state material science research utilizing a 400mHz solid-state NMR spectrometer equipped with a Klystron dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP); representing one of the first of its kind to be installed in the United States. This position will work autonomously for full development of MAS-NMR and DPN methods and experimentation while also being responsible to maintain the instrument on a regular basis. This person will perform the function of a post-doctoral research engineer in the field of mechanical behavior of metallic materials with special attention given to understanding and modeling the interplay between microstructure and damage mechanisms from room to elevated temperatures. Major duties include leading investigations to determine and model the relationship between microstructure and mechanical behavior of materials, especially under cyclic and fatigue crack growth conditions. Additional duties include writing technical reports detailing microstructural characterization, experimental/computational procedures, and mechanical behavior findings for contributions into journal papers and technical reports. An additive manufacturing product development process is used to guide the design engineer, but it is essential that the engineer be well versed in the fundamentals of mechanical design as well as possess the ability to assess requirements and choose the most economical combination of part geometry and material properties to take full advantage of the additive manufacturing process. This will include material / design/ process risk assessments and selection, providing test plan execution, test data interpretation, and validation of part performance vs. end-use requirements. The position will also require the ability to resolve design-related performance issues.
