Position Summary:

The successful candidate will teach, supervise and advise undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly research (that also leads to publications and presentations), and engage in service-related activities. Primary teaching responsibilities include instruction of mathematics methods and credential courses for pre-service teachers in Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-9) and Adolescent to Young Adult (grades 7-12), as well as teaching graduate research methods for the M.Ed./ M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. This position is a 3-3 teaching load.

Minimum Qualifications:

- An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics education at the middle/secondary level from an accredited university

-Three years full-time mathematics teaching experience in grades 4-12 with a valid teaching license in the U.S.

-University teaching experience in mathematics education

-Evidence of ability to teach foundation courses in educational research

-Articulation of a research agenda in mathematics education

-Effective written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Demonstrated ability to incorporate pedagogical practices that promote a more equitable and inclusive classroom for diverse student populations

-Successful experience building and maintaining partnerships with middle/secondary schools

-Successful experience supervising student teachers

-Publication of peer-reviewed research articles in the area of mathematics education

-Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted and other delivery models

-Successful experience teaching online courses

-Evidence of successful university teaching experience in mathematics education and/or curriculum and instruction at the middle/secondary level

-Evidence of involvement in professional organizations, like AMTE and NCTM

-Effective interpersonal communication skills

-Openness to promoting and enhancing the Catholic Marianist environment
