Position Summary: The Department of Chemistry seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, lecturer in introductory and general chemistry. The position is eligible for benefits. Typical teaching load is a 4/4 load of undergraduate courses for both majors and non-majors. Possibility exists for teaching organic chemistry, based on candidate background and needs of the department. Position begins August 16, 2020.
Minimum Qualifications:

-All coursework required for Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field completed at time of application, with expected completion of Ph.D. by June 30, 2020.
-Experience teaching General Chemistry at the college or university level.
-Ability to teach undergraduate general chemistry lecture courses.
-Ability to develop innovative pedagogies for the 1st year course sequence.
-Effective written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

While applicants may not meet all of the following preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching of general chemistry.
-Successful experience teaching undergraduates in lecture courses as the instructor of record.
-Successful experience working with diverse student populations.
-Successful experience in the development and use of innovative teaching methods to foster and maintain student engagement.
-Sensitivity to education and development of the whole person.
-Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at time of application.
-Successful experience teaching organic chemistry.
-Experience with curriculum assessment.
-Background in chemical education.
-Successful experience in the development and use of innovative teaching methods to foster and maintain student engagement.
-Effective classroom management skills.
-Ability to present material clearly and effectively in the classroom.
-Professional experience in North American higher education.
-Effective interpersonal communication skills.
-Effective oral communication skills.
-Commitment to breadth of education including education the whole person in the Marianist tradition and a commitment of service to the community, university and profession.

-Unofficial transcript from all institutions attended (undergraduate and graduate)
-If Ph.D. is not complete at time of application, a letter from the dissertation advisor must be included to indicate progress toward degree and expected date of completion.
-3 letters of recommendation (applicant will need to provide information for three references at the time of application)
