Position Summary: The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and highly talented data engineer to perform and lead data management activities for additive manufacturing (AM) research. This position would utilize existing technology to create workflows for collecting, tracking, visualizing and accessing modeling, process, metallurgy, and testing data for additive manufacturing and materials science research. Work will involve implementation automated processes for data storage, data transfer, data sharing, and data fusion infrastructure considering FAIR principles. To this end, python scripting and computer hardware software support will be necessary. This position will interface directly with a team of engineers and materials research scientists generating large amounts of data, often in a research environment with goals of some transition to external partners. Additionally, varying degrees of security standards will need to be considered and upheld. The candidate will establish a data management environment based on the existing HyperThought platform (an internal NoSQL approach) that enables data driven materials science and additive manufacturing research. The candidate should also be able to quickly assess and demonstrate ability of new and evolving tools to manage data and software as they come online.
Minimum Qualifications:

P1 Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, or engineering from an accredited University.
• The candidate must have experience in one of the areas below: Coding (Python, Matlab etc.), data management, information technology.
• Effective communication and ability to troubleshoot in a dynamic team environment will be required
• Due to security clearance requirements of this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
P2 Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, or engineering from an accredited University.
• The candidate must have 3 years of experience in one of the following areas: Coding (Python, Matlab etc.), data management, information technology.
• Effective communication and ability to troubleshoot in a dynamic team environment will be required
• Due to security clearance requirements of this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum requirements, a preferred candidate will also be familiar with additive manufacturing and materials research, an understanding of data acquisition and analysis concepts, familiarity with data science and statistics.
