Position Summary: The Coordinator of Student Advising and Department Initiatives serves as the department’s primary academic advisor for undergraduate and graduate CPS students and supports faculty in their mentoring activities. Working closely with the department chairperson and graduate director, the Coordinator serves as the liaison between the department and the College Dean’s Office and Registrar on matters of student progress toward degree completion, major and concentration changes, transfer credit, study abroad issues, exceptions, waivers, and discrepancies with degree audits. Additionally, the Coordinator organizes recruitment efforts with potential students, serves as the liaison with Career Services, oversees the ASI program for first year CPS majors, answers emails from students, processes add/drop requests, and facilitates the submission of course/program proposals and revisions.
Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree
Successful experience organizing work effectively
Successful experience using Microsoft Word to generate letters
Effective written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with higher education academic advising
Experience working with diverse student populations
Familiarity with the computer science field
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple constituencies
Successful experience with UD advising tools and reports, such as DegreeWorks and Cognos
Successful professional experience planning and implementing events
Success being flexible and adapting to changes in duties
Effective oral communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Willingness to engage with Catholic and Marianist educational values
Successful experience supervising student workers
