Position Summary: This position is sustaining engineering support for vehicle sustainment technology including vehicle, ground support equipment, and aircraft maintenance. Under the leadership of a senior engineer, this role will support research, evaluation, reverse engineering, design, and test/validation of hardware for support equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will: Interface with client hardware owners and teams to identify and document support equipment and vehicle end items and components in support of lifecycle management (LCM) activities and service life extension programs (SLEP). Work with client hardware engineers to ensure documentation and product conformance with engineering design intent and performance requirements. Design and optimize mechanical components for either traditional or additive manufacturing (i.e. housings, brackets, structural supports, vehicle parts and aerospace hardware) and mechanical systems, in accordance with current and applicable GD&T standards. Create and execute component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results. The work will primarily support government customers, but some commercial sector clients may be supported by this position as well.
Minimum Qualifications:

- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to create, read, and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer generated reports.
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling software.
- Working knowledge in Excel, Access, and other MS Office Suite programs.
- Attention to detail.
- Development and management of large bills of materials (1 + parts)
- Prior involvement with projects on government contracts
- Demonstrated application with creating and executing component and system level validation and qualification test plans.
- Experience analyzing large sets of maintenance data and identifying equipment and component trends
- 2+ years engineering/technical experience supporting vehicles or military support equipment
- 1+ years experience with part optimization and quality improvement
- Previous work experience at University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) in a sustaining engineering role
- Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 1+ years engineering/technical product design, hardware ownership experience with working knowledge of GD&T standards.
- 1+ years developing military equipment product specifications
- 1+ years engineering support experience with US Air Force Support Equipment & Vehicles Program Office
- 1+ years project management experience
- 1+ years MS Access experience
- Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, NC machining, forging, heat treat, and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization.
- Self motivated & organized with ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
