Position Summary:

The Air Vehicle Optimization Group is a diverse team of skilled engineers who work closely with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop, prototype, and test numerical models, software, and hardware for the multidisciplinary analysis and design of aerospace vehicle concepts. The group brings together specialties in Aerospace, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics. The group combines state-of-the-art engineering tools with innovative ideas to support future aircraft design methods from conceptual design through flight testing. A few of the projects the group currently supports include: Computational Aircraft Prototype Synthesis (CAPS), Missile Enhancement via ReconfigurabLe Interceptor Nose (MERLIN), Efficient Supersonic Aircraft Vehicle (ESAV), X-56, and XQ-58A.

The group currently seeks a Project Manager (PM) to provide Program, Contract, Subcontract & Financial support on various contracts within the Applied Mechanics Division and other UDRI Divisions as required. The PM will apply appropriate methodologies and processes to deliver quality and timely solutions and deliverables in support of programs. The PM conducts professional-level project management assignments that require the use of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of discipline or specialty. Prepares project plans for programs, which includes financial projection and analyses. Performs financial analysis and interpretation. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Possess skills and competencies attributed to complex, multi-issue and multi-party projects. .Manages budget development, tracking, review and reporting. Ensure schedule and budget adherence. Manage task order management, funding transfers, and invoices. Assists other professionals with financial management. Excellence in organization management and oversee compliance activities. Organizes and prepares reports including financial and project management reports. Develops an awareness of technology and funding trends. Contributes to proposal and other marketing efforts. Supervises hands-on training of part-time employees and students. Endorses travel and expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications:

o 3+ years of directly related experience in business and/or contract management
o MBA/MSL or related degree with focus on business and/or government contracting
o Proven skills in program management, financial analysis, contract management
o Demonstrable skills in setting and managing budgets, operations management, and cost effectiveness
o Understanding of government contracts, funding, and processes
o Effective written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
o Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
o Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship and ability to pass a National Agency check is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a preferred candidate will also meet one or more of the following qualifications:
o 10+ years of directly related experience in business and/or contract management
o Experience in marketing and direct interactions with customers
o Experience in government RFP/RFQ processes
o Knowledge of FARs/DFARs
o Completed PMP certification training
o Intellectual Property Certification
