Position Summary: This position entails engineering and qualifying additively manufactured components for USAF aircraft, ground support equipment and vehicles. Additionally, this position entails the transition of this technology to the USAF through written technical orders and course development and on site training of USAF personnel. This role will support design, re-engineering and test/validation of hardware produced through additive manufacturing. The ideal candidate will: Design, analyze and optimize mechanical components for additive manufacturing (i.e. turbine engine components, heat exchangers, housings, brackets, structural supports, vehicle parts and aerospace hardware) and mechanical systems, in accordance with current and applicable engineering standards and practices. The role will require Interfacing with USAF hardware owners and teams for component selection and understanding design intent for hardware transitioning from traditional manufacturing processes to additive manufacturing. Create and execute component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results. The work will primarily support government customers, but some industrial business may be supported by this position as well.
Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or related engineering field). 5 years engineering/technical product design, hardware ownership experience with working knowledge of GD&T standards. Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer generated reports. 5+ years experience in analysis of components in relation to mechanical systems, including Finite Element Analysis for structural, fatigue, thermal, vibration, and acoustics. 5+ years experience with creating and executing component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results. 2+ years experience with turbine engine component design. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as casting, NC machining, forging, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics. Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software and FEA analysis. Proficient in Matlab, Excel and other MS Office Suite programs. Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required. Attention to detail. Valid drivers license with low risk driving record. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or related engineering field). 8+ years engineering/technical product design experience. 8+ years experience in analysis and FEA. 8+ years experience with systems engineering. 3+ years experience designing applications for additive manufacturing or operating FDM or DMLM additive equipment. 3+ years experience conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization. Self motivated & organized with ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi disciplinary team. Working knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA processes. Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills. Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD modeling and Ansys or Abaqus FEA software. Active US Security Clearance.
