Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the chemistry department chairperson, this position provides advanced support for the Chemistry Department Laboratory Programs. This includes supervising an entry-level lab technician along with student workers to accomplish a variety of support tasks in a chemistry science laboratory including maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and the laboratory, maintenance and ordering of inventory, various recordkeeping functions, budget management and overall lab safety.
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in similar research and teaching laboratories
Ability to interact with faculty, teaching assistants and student lab assistants.
Supervisory ability
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work within established procedures and guidelines.
Excellent written communication skills
Must be able to maintain the organization of stockroom chemicals and materials.
Ability to keep a neat and clean work environment.
Ability to use tools and mechanical equipment, lift and carry items weighing in excess of 70 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree
Supervisory experience
At least 5 years managing a laboratory
Interest in Chemistry.
Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and MSDS sheets.
Experience with inventorying materials and budgeting.
Demonstrated ability to work and/or engage with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
