The HVAC Manager is responsible for ensuring that mechanical systems operate correctly and are maintained per factory recommended specifications across campus buildings. Manages, supervises, and directs contracted personnel on the installation of new HVAC systems or components of systems. Evaluates HVAC systems for Preventative Maintenance schedules, upgrades and operating efficiency. Assists Assistant Director of HVAC Systems with managing the campus building automation system to ensure control strategies and HVAC systems are implemented in a way that reduces energy consumption and provides for the best life cycle operation of the system. Supports sustainability efforts that have an impact on operational needs. Establishes working relationships and coordinates communication with campus constituents. Acts as a liaison between the University, parents, and student occupants. Performs other related tasks or duties within the Facilities Management and Planning department as assigned.

This position will be versatile and may require the individual to travel throughout the campus grounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Degree from an accredited trade school college or university and at least five (5) years of demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, and upgrade of equipment associated with commercial and residential HVAC systems or high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, and upgrade of equipment associated with commercial and residential HVAC systems. These systems include chillers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.

2. Analytical ability to diagnose HVAC problems and to understand and work from blueprints, schematics, sketches or pencil drawings.

3. Thorough knowledge of heating, ventilation and refrigeration theory.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local codes.

5. Ability to work with a wide range of customers with regard to service issues including students, parents, staff and faculty.

6. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

7. Extensive use of Microsoft Office software with special emphasis on Excel and Word.

8. Knowledge/experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and work order flow.

9. Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low-risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will
bring many of the following:

1. Valid Commercial Contractor license for HVAC certified by the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) or similar.

2. Familiarity with most all UD campus Facilities operating systems.

3. OSHA safety training.

4. Confined space training.

5. Experience working in an environment with multiple facilities.
