Position Summary:

This position will coordinate the peer tutoring program and will report to the Director of the Office of Learning Resources (OLR). The Coordinator will hire, train, supervise, and assess student tutors, tutor mentors, and tutor managers for Fall and Spring semesters. The Coordinator will also collaborate with academic departments to recruit tutors, ensure department needs are being met by tutors in their areas, and maintain effective working relationships with other tutoring resources across the University. In order to ensure the ongoing success of the tutoring program, the Coordinator maintains the tutoring budget, monitors data on tutor usage and feedback, and prepares quantitative and qualitative reports on utilization of the program. The Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining the department’s CRLA certification for peer tutoring.

This position will also oversee a learning support course offered by OLR to help academically at-risk students (UDI 055 – Becoming a Mindful Learner) in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Coordinator will be responsible for the hiring, training, and supervising of UDI 055 instructors as well as teaching one section of an OLR learning support courses in the Fall and Spring semester. The Coordinator will be responsible for working with the academic dean’s offices to enroll students in UDI 055 prior to the start of each semester. Additionally, this position will provide one-on-one academic coaching support for undergraduate students.

The Coordinator will be required to work some evening hours to assist with student staff supervision and student testing in the OLR.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or a Master's degree completed by hire date
Demonstrated experience with peer tutoring programs
One year of experience working with college students in academic coaching or mentoring, in or out of the classroom
Demonstrated experience mentoring/supervising/training students
Evidence of strong collaboration skills with different constituencies
Evidence of strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity and inclusion
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years experience working in higher education
Two years of teaching experience
Demonstrated effective presentation skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Evidence of excellent oral communication skills
Ability to collect, interpret and present data
Demonstrated experience successfully mentoring or coaching diverse student populations
Experience successfully managing confidential records and knowledge of FERPA
Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic Marianist work environment

Special Instructions to Applicants:

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
