Position Summary: Do you want to make a difference in reducing energy cost and carbon emissions? Play a major role in developing energy and sustainability standards for the University of Dayton’s campus? Then the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Manager is the right position for you.
Primary Job Functions of this position: working with the Executive Director Energy Utilization and Environmental Sustainability in a broad range of functions relating to energy efficiency, management and renewable energy initiatives. Work with the campus community and represent Facilities Management in communicating energy efficiency initiatives. Continually explore new practices in energy efficient technology and clean and renewable energy. Utilize reporting data to develop effective energy strategies and policies in various reporting platforms such as; METASYS, GRITS, gas and electric metering data, GRF, and renewable energy data. Maintain documentation of all campus metering, including review/analysis of data. Work with Facilities Management HVAC department and implement engineered solutions to operational and energy related problems, and monitor HVAC equipment in METASYS. This position will be a key stakeholder in the development, coordination, and implementation of the university’s climate action plan to reduce and or eliminate the university’s carbon emissions.
Minimum Qualifications:

1. Five years of experience in energy efficiency/sustainability practices in a residential and commercial setting,
2. Knowledge of HVAC systems in a commercial environment.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects with emphasis on reporting and documentation.
4. Working knowledge of commercial utility systems and infrastructure.
5. Ability to engage a wide variety of stakeholders and interest groups.
6. Proficiency in common software programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and web based tools.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low-risk driving record" to the minimum qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Experience managing energy efficiency, renewable energy initiatives in a higher education setting.
2. Project management experience related to energy efficiency.
3. Experience in HVAC systems in a commercial and residential environment.
4. Experience using JCI METASYS, collecting meter data in the field and through various software applications. Experience with analysis of energy software.
5. CEM and or Professional Engineer accredited professional credentials, or wiliness to obtain.
6. Bachelor Degree in Electric/Mechanical Engineering.
7. Graduate degree in clean and renewable energy.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.

The University will continue to monitor the state of the pandemic on campus and in the community as well as developments in federal and state requirements, and also will continue to regularly consult with public health officials and our medical panel.
