Position Summary:

Facilities Management & Planning is responsible for the care and maintenance of over 5.5 million square feet of academic, research, residential, administrative & athletic facilities, on a 432 acre urban campus. This is not an entry level position; applicants must demonstrate that they possess the necessary skills and abilities to assume the full duties and responsibilities of the position without substantial training, upon entry. Perform all duties particular to and normally required in the plumbing trade at the journeyman level, following recognized procedures and techniques necessary to the servicing of gas, water, steam, and sanitary and storm lines; and the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and equipment. General care, repair, and operation of boilers as necessary to meet and or exceed license or insurance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Practical experience in each of the following areas: boiler repair, plumbing, & preventative maintenance.
Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low risk driving record.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, and make simple math calculations.
Ability to read and understand working drawings.
General knowledge of plumbing, heating, and general repair.
Understanding and familiarity with the uniform building code.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, both oral and written.
Ability to read and check gauges and measuring devices.
Ability to obtain boiler operator certification within 18 months by Industrial Commission, State of Ohio.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Current Boiler Operator Certification.
Experience troubleshooting boilers.
Experience in preventative maintenance of boilers and supporting equipment.
Industrial/commercial boiler/piping experience.
Experience sufficient to qualify as Journeyman plumber with a minimum of four years actual work in the trade.
Possess basic computer skills.
Monitor building automated systems (Metasys).
Knowledge of steam systems.
Knowledge of boiler room chemical testing.

This position is for two (2) Plumber/Boiler positions.
