Position Summary:

About the Position
We currently are seeking applications for a full-time instructionally-focused faculty colleague, at the level of Lecturer. Our lecturers contribute fully to our academic mission through their primary work in teaching courses and service to students, the department, and the university. We encourage and support the development of lecturers and provide opportunities for promotion and access to professional opportunities on- and off-campus.

This is a full time, 9 month position starting August 16, 2024 with full benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, support for a dual-career program for spouses of prospective and newly hired faculty, a relocation package, and tuition remission benefits. Some summer teaching opportunities are available given demand. The ideal candidate will be capable of and interested in contributing to one or more areas in our core health science curriculum that covers physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, and corresponding laboratory courses. Specific teaching responsibilities will be determined based on candidate qualifications, interest, and balance of lecture and laboratory courses in collaboration with the department chair and existing faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, science education, or related field
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Effective written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • PhD or EdD in physiology, kinesiology, science education or related field
  • Successful experience in one or more of the following:
    • working with students in a non-classroom based capacity (e.g. laboratory, advising, mentoring, etc)
    • teaching as Instructor of Record in a lecture- or laboratory- based course.
    • serving, leading, and/or collaborating within a department and/or broader university community
    • effectively engaging, teaching, mentoring, and/or advising students of socially and culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Laboratory skills related to area of expertise (e.g. exercise physiology, exercise testing, motion analysis)
  • Clinical skills related to the area of exercise physiology or physiology
  • Working knowledge of the health professional career fields.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition and a commitment to social justice and  service to the community, university and profession
