Position Summary:

Our Collection Strategies and Services department within the University Library invites qualified applicants to apply for our Acquisitions Specialist opening!

Responsible for the acquisition of library materials in multiple formats from a variety of U.S. and non U.S. vendors. Maintains financial records, monitors day to day expenditures, and processes all acquisitions invoices. Tracks firm and standing orders to ensure prompt payment. Works with vendors to facilitate resolution of problems. Assists with library materials data collection/analysis activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge of financial record keeping.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Expert knowledge of Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

At least one year of experience in library technical services.
Experience with the acquisitions module of an integrated library system and GOBI Library Solutions.
Knowledge of university or commercial purchasing practices.
Demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Catholic and Marianist educational values
