The Coordinator of Community Engagement assists the development, implementation, support, promotion and evaluation of Campus Ministry's Center for Social Concern’s opportunities for reflective community service that unite faith and action for justice, This campus minister provides co-curricular community engagement through volunteerism opportunities and student leadership development; educates students on social justice issues from a faith perspective, especially through Catholic social teaching; works collaboratively with various campus units on service, social justice and civic engagement programs; promotes interfaith cooperation and learning through community engagement opportunities; oversees the development of service and social action student organizations; and cultivates/maintains mutually beneficial partnerships with Dayton area community service organizations to meet real community needs. Reaches out to a diverse student body with cultural awareness and responsiveness. Participates as an active member of the campus ministry team and embodies a commitment to Catholic and Marianist ideals through faith inspired service and justice engagement. This is a 11 month position with full benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree
Evidence of theological formation/training suitable for faith-based social justice ministry
Knowledge or experience with young adult faith development
Willingness to work late evenings and some weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Master's Degree in a related field
Higher Education experience
Ability to generate enthusiasm for faith inspired community service, social justice and civic engagement among college students
Ability to recruit, train, supervise and mentor undergraduate student leaders and volunteers
Ability to educate students on social justice from a faith perspective (e.g. Catholic social teaching, Protestant/Social Gospel tradition, and/or traditions of social engagement from major world religions)
Ability to develop service projects that advance interfaith cooperation and friendship
Facilitating dialogue across difference especially among people from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds
Practicing cultural competency in ministry with attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Knowledge or experience with experiential education pedagogy for community engagement
Capacity to represent the Catholic and Marianist character of the university
Knowledge or experience building and sustaining partnerships with community organizations
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects
Ability to supervise and mentor graduate students in social justice ministry
