Position Summary:

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Sustainment Technician to join our team in Warner Robins, GA. This position is located at Warner Robins, Georgia and will support sustainment activities including advanced manufacturing/repair and corrosion technologies. The position will serve as a senior lab technician, responsible for machining of printed and traditionally manufactured components. This includes setting up, operating and maintaining equipment; consumable and spare parts inventory and procurement; preparing and tracking material samples; adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand machining processes, additive manufacturing, and be able to provide guidance on design for manufacturability. A senior technician will also act as a mentor for junior technicians and engineers. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

T3:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years operating CNC milling machines
- Minimum of 4 years reading, editing, understanding G-code (e.g. on machine controller)
- Minimum of 4 years setting up milling machines for jobs (e.g. setting tools, loading vises, indicating vises, sweeping in holes)
- Proper use of precision inspection equipment (e.g. micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc)
- Working knowledge of GD&T and military specifications
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Experience manufacturing aerospace parts from titanium and nickel-based alloys
- Effective interpersonal/verbal communication skills with team members at all levels
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs
- Organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- 3+ years of experience machining additively manufactured or cast metal parts
- 1+ years of experience in heat treat operations
- Demonstrated experience operating Haas VF series numerical controlled equipment for machining complex 3D geometries
- Demonstrated experience operating Mitsubishi MV-series electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment
- Experience in interacting with design and manufacturing engineers and other technical personnel, providing guidance around design for manufacturability
- Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures
