This position is for an on-site entry-level mechanical/electronics engineering technician working in the RF Seekers and Fuze Sensors section, Munitions Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, at Eglin Air Force Base. The position will primarily support the technical area of Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) of fuze sensors for air-to-air and air-to-surface munitions. The position requires interaction with engineers, scientists, and technologists to perform research and development testing to include accurate verbal and written reporting. The candidate must be comfortable with using basic machine shop equipment for fabricating mechanical fixtures to be used in custom critical experiments. With supervision, the candidate must be able to read schematics/block-diagrams, wire and interconnect components, follow detailed test procedures, and assist in data collection in RDT&E activities in the lab and test ranges.

Minimum Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent
-Completion of an Engineering Technician program OR currently enrolled with projected completion by Dec 2026 and able to show a current overall grade of 85/100 or better
-Ability to operate basic machine shop equipment
-Knowledge/Understanding of basic electrical circuit theory
-Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
-Candidate must have or be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Prior military
-General job experience
-Use of software CAD packages (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics)
-Knowledge/Understanding in radio frequency (RF) electronics (antennas, amplifiers, mixers, filters, couplers, detectors, transmission line cabling, etc.) and RF lab test equipment (RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
-Desire to continue education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
-Welding (special test range fixtures)
