Position Summary:

Engineering the Simulations That Power Tomorrow’s Defense Decisions.

Defense System Evaluation Simulation Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and tools that support Department of Defense (DoD) modeling, simulation, analysis, and operational decision-support activities. The position focuses on developing high-performance software solutions for scientific computing, mission analysis, system-level simulations, and data visualization in support of defense customers.

The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary engineering and research teams to translate operational requirements into functional software capabilities. This role requires strong software engineering skills combined with experience in modeling and simulation (M&S), numerical methods, data processing, and defense-related software environments. The work will primarily support government customers, but some commercial enterprises may be supported by this position as well. Please address all qualifications in your cover letter.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
-Experience developing software applications using one or more of the following: C++, Python, Java, C#, MATLAB
-Experience with object-oriented programming and software development lifecycle practices.
-Experience developing or supporting modeling and simulation applications, scientific software, or analytical tools.
-Familiarity with source control and collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, GitLab, Bitbucket).
-Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and verification methodologies.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary technical teams.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.
-Possess DoW Secret security clearance.
-Willing to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

-Master’s in an engineering discipline, Operational Research or related field.
-5+ years’ experience in USAF operational or logistics planning/policy
-5+ years’ experience in DoD Operational Research of related field.
-Thorough understanding of the AF and DoD operational planning processes.
-Demonstrated practical policy development experience.
-Demonstrated experience with planning and executing workshops, seminars, or wargames.
-Demonstrated exemplary technical and persuasive writing skills.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to obtain a TS clearance within 1 year of hire.
