Position Summary:

The Decision Support Analyst or Senior Analyst produces reliable, valid, useful, engaging and impactful data analysis and visualization across a wide variety of university issues. Working as part of a team the analyst or senior analyst will:

1. Work with stakeholders to identify needs and research questions
2. Develop systematic approaches for sourcing, combining, and shaping data to meet multiple requests and research questions
3. Build and iteratively improve engaging and insightful self-service dashboards that provide a variety of information while drawing attention to key dynamics
4. Engage stakeholders with analytic products

The analyst or senior analyst will have a chance to develop deep expertise in one or more areas of focus while contributing their ideas and skills to a wide variety of projects. Potential issue areas will include but not be limited to: academics; enrollment management; student success, wellbeing, and engagement; finance; administration; human resources; information technology; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications for Analyst:

Associates degree or higher

One year experience (or equivalent educational experience) with quantitative data analysis, research, analytics, data science, and/or assessment

Competency in data preparation, quantitative analysis, and data visualization

Ability to clearly and concisely present quantitative analysis in a variety of formats including dashboards, reports, and presentations

Experience managing projects

High integrity, relationship building skills, and effective interpersonal skills

Effective written communication skills

A Senior Analyst must meet all Analyst minimum qualifications in addition to the qualifications listed below:

Four years of experience (or equivalent educational experience) in institutional research, analytics, business intelligence, compliance reporting or relevant quantitative research (including conducting or teaching quantitative research in social science, education, business, or other related fields)

Experience independently completing complex analytics, research, and/or dashboard projects from start-to-finish including: identify problems and questions; accessing and preparing data; systematically exploring data; enacting analysis approaches; evaluating analysis, including limitations; developing high quality and well documented reports, dashboards, or other analytic products; engaging stakeholders with analytic products

A history of learning new analytic skills through projects and iteratively improving skill sets and approaches (in previous work or educational experiences)

Work or educational experience with data from enterprise data systems or other similarly complex data

Evidence of strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Masters degree in related field

Experience with advanced statistical analysis (inferential, predictive, etc.)

Portfolio of products from previous jobs or educational experiences that demonstrates descriptive analysis, statistical analysis, data science, and/or data visualization

Knowledge of higher education theory and best practice related to academics; enrollment management; student success, wellbeing, and engagement; finance; administration; human resources; information technology; and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion

Experience with compliance related reporting

Demonstrated experience advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and engaging in equity-minded practice

Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the distinctive characteristics of Marianist universities
