Position Summary:

The University of Dayton, a top-tier Catholic research institution, seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our Student Development division as a Residential Assignments Office. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing Assignments, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate assignment records, billing, and housing administrative functions for residential students
assigned to multiple University operated housing facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the
Assistant Director of Housing Assignments with the implementation of application and assignment
processes, and will independently implement placement of students within assigned areas for general
and affinity group housing. The independent implementation includes creating and maintaining housing assignment procedures to determine where students are assigned; communicating with students regarding room change processes; creating and calculating housing charges; creating and manipulating data in the housing database; determining the best placement for students with accommodation needs; and utilizing housing and department software to communicate information with students. The position serves as a first contact for students, housing staff, University partners, and families in relation to students housed in their areas and exercises judgment and discretion as needed to resolve situations which may present. This position is part of the department front-line response team and will handle significant volumes of calls, visits, and electronic communications related to housing assignments and administrative processes. It is critical for this position to develop and maintain relationships with campus departments in order to accomplish the responsibilities for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication skills for working with a diverse campus community.
Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to respond to constituencies who may be in a distressed state.
Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills for engaging with community members of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences which may be different from one’s own.
Ability to respond to multiple requests and priorities in a fast-paced environment where circumstances or individual situations may be fluid or unique to specific occurrences.
Administer, support, and communicate complex processes and procedures related to the assignment of individuals to campus housing facilities.
Work independently within specified time constraints
Ability to exercise judgment and sound decision-making skills based upon knowledge of departmental policies, processes, and practices.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain electronic records with a high level of accuracy as they pertain to occupancy management and housing related information.
Proficiency with standard office applications (Microsoft and Google office suites) and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and applications as required to respond to changing position needs.
Ability to generate reports based upon information from multiple data sources; including, the ability to utilize reporting tools to generate information.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Master’s Degree.
Prior experience working in a higher education setting or with housing/leasing management.
Recognition and appreciation that we are all educators and whether through administrative processes or supporting students/families, each engagement can be an educational opportunity to support learning and development.
