Position Summary:
Location: Air Force Nondestructive Inspection Office (AFNDIO) at Tinker AFB, OK (Telework is not available for this position).
The AFNDIO is seeking a Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a technical support role. The selected candidate will serve as a SME in aerospace systems NDI and aircraft maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities: • Provide expertise in reviewing, validating, and verifying innovations and transitioning technology to the Air Force. • Identifying nondestructive evaluation related material and process needs, identifying solutions, participating in development and integration of new solutions, advising weapon system program offices. • Provide quality control of manufactured specimens by performing fluorescent penetrant (methods c and d) and eddy current (surface scan and bolt hole rotary scan). • Document detailed results of specimen quality control. • Provide management of AF NDI Office (AFNDIO) laboratory capabilities. Maintain: Laboratory Equipment Account, TMDE, Equipment Servicing and Inspection, Process Control, Tool Accountability, Hazardous Communication & Waste, Lockout / Tagout, Laboratory Safety, etc. • Provide consultation requiring expertise that enables prompt, credible responses to field, program office, and Air Logistics Complex questions regarding nondestructive evaluation, inspection, and testing. • Serve as the SME for NDI facility requirements according to the Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) and sister service orders. • Develop content and other helpful documents for the customer’s Technical Community SharePoint. • Support Executive and Working Group meetings, as needed. • Assist with Probability of Detection (POD) Studies, procedural validation and verification of new or updated technical order procedures, and first article inspections, and other technical evaluations during site visits.

Minimum Qualifications: |
P2 – Technology Transition Analyst • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years of experience OR 7 years of experience in the field of Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) having previously held Level 2 certification(s) IAW NAS 410, ASNT, SNT-TC-1A (or equivalent). • Experience leading projects and programs. • Knowledge of NDI laboratory requirements, programs, and equipment management. • Proficient in performing NDI process controls and management of program. • Proficient with fluorescent penetrant (methods c and d) and eddy current (surface scan and bolt hole rotary scan) inspection methods and documenting detailed inspection results. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. • Excellent written communication skills. • Intermediate Microsoft Office skillset. • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat. • Self-motivated, independent worker with impeccable judgment. • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen • Ability to obtain a secret clearance within one year of hire. • Willing to travel (up to 30 days a year). • Valid drivers license with a low risk driving record.
P3 – Senior Technology Transition Analyst All P2 Minimum Qualifications as well as: • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of six years of experience OR a master’s degree plus a minimum of five years of experience OR 15 years of experience in the field of NDI having previously held Level 2 or Level 3 certification(s) IAW NAS 410, ASNT, SNT-TC-1A (or equivalent). • 3+ years’ experience managing an AF field NDI laboratory (served as NCOIC, Section Chief, Lab Supervisor, etc.). • Advanced Microsoft Office skillset. • Ability to draft drawings from CAD and 3D models.

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• 3+ years’ experience working in or closely with the Air Force NDI Office (AFNDIO). • Excellent verbal communication skills. • Project management training or certifications. • Experience with MS Project. • Familiarity with military materials and processes and standards. • Familiarity with Additive Manufacturing processes. • Moderate experience at manipulating 3D Scanner data (point cloud) using CAD/SolidWorks. • Documented experience hours that meet or exceed NAS 410 Level 2 formal training and experience requirements in the five traditional methods (penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultrasonic, and radiography). • Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures. • Demonstrated self-starter with vision to see new ways of doing business (i.e., out of the box thinking).
