The Center for Catholic Education at the University of Dayton — founded in 1996 — promotes, researches, enhances, energizes and supports Catholic schools. We are a nationally recognized leader in Catholic K-12 education. We provide educators with programs and services that enhance the Church's mission and foster excellence in Catholic schools. The Executive Director of the Center for Catholic Education is expected to provide expertise in the area of US educational leadership for Catholic schools focused on teaching and leadership in Catholic K-12 schools with attention to the United States’ diverse contexts. The Executive Director will play a vital role in the formation of K-12 Catholic educators so that they are equipped to nurture distinctively Catholic educational environments in K-12 schools. The Executive Director’s efforts will be expected to contribute to the national and international reputation of the Center by making contributions to scholarship and innovative programming for Catholic schools. The Executive Director will supervise CCE programming and operations, promote the national profile of the Center, and may be asked to teach selected courses. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across campus as well as the other two (2) Marianist Universities – St. Mary’s and Chaminade – and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Minimum Qualifications:

● An earned Master’s degree in education or related field
● Experience in full time strategic administrative roles
● Articulated commitment to support the CCE’s and UD’s commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
● Expressed willingness to engage with Catholic educational traditions and practice
● Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

● An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related field
● Expressed willingness to engage with Marianist principles and traditions
● Administrative experience that engages the diversity of US Catholic school settings (urban, rural, suburban)
● Demonstrated leadership of sustainable center in higher education
● Demonstrated record of leadership and/or membership in NCEA (National Catholic Education Association)
● Demonstrated successful experience in one or more of the following:
• Building and maintaining partnerships with Catholic schools and educators
• Experience with administrative roles including operations and finances
• Potential in grant writing and fundraising
• Advocacy at state, regional, and/or national levels to advance the profile and prominence of a project or center
• Managing large grant projects in related areas
• Working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
● Professional-level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint) and Google suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, Calendar)
● Effective interpersonal communication skills as evidenced by a demonstrated history of team building and collaborative decision-making
