Position Summary: |
Join the University of Dayton as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications and be part of a dynamic team that celebrates the rich traditions and values of our Catholic, Marianist institution. This Assistant Director of Athletics Communications position within the Athletics division offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the narrative and amplify the success stories of our student-athletes and coaches.
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics Communications, the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications is responsible for the operation of media, public relations and game day duties for at least three of the 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate programs at the University of Dayton, in addition to assisting with game day operations for select home events. Supporting other sports, including men’s basketball, as needed.
All University of Dayton Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10.

Minimum Qualifications: |
● Bachelor's degree. ● Minimum of two years of experience in a communications related field (public relations, journalism, or media relations). ● Working knowledge of in-game statistical programs TAS/Stat Crew and NCAA Genius Software. ● Applicants must show proficiency in writing and excellent communications skills. ● Proficiency in desktop publishing software (Adobe InDesign), as well as Adobe PhotoShop. ● Proven game day experience with the ability to work in a fast-paced game day environment. ● Experienced in multimedia / social media functions for a communications office. ● Capable of working effectively with a diverse group of student athletes, coaches, staff, media, and visitors on a daily basis. ● Must be flexible to travel with assigned teams for competition as required, and ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and some holidays. ● Must possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a low-risk driving record and be able to be insured by the University.

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
● Master’s or advanced degree. ● Experienced in NCAA sponsored athletics programs. ● Working knowledge of university, and NCAA rules and regulations. ● Video editing experience.
