Position Summary: |
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to support a diverse range of systems engineering, sustainment, and applied research projects. This position with the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is located at the Hangar-01 facility in Beavercreek, OH and involves managing complex, high-visibility efforts for a U.S. government customer, requiring both strong technical acumen and proven project management expertise.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to understand complex technical projects and align resources for successful execution, lead teams, and coordinate cross-functional efforts. They will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address program challenges and adapt to evolving customer needs, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and build strong customer relationships to deliver high-value results. Additionally, they will excel at shaping and facilitating actionable project plans from ambiguous or evolving requirements, ensuring innovative, high-quality solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and in challenging operational environments.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent technical projects from initiation to completion. • Manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management and execution of projects. This includes managing project documentation and providing clear, data-driven status updates to stakeholders. • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to address variances from the plan. • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for program-related issues. • Translate operational and mission needs into detailed technical and programmatic requirements. • Coordinate with engineers, logisticians, and other technical experts to ensure project objectives are met and projects align with technical and strategic objectives. • Oversee testing, evaluation, and implementation of systems and processes in diverse environments.

Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics or related field. • 6+ years of relevant experience in program or project management, preferably within a technical or engineering environment. • Experience managing full project lifecycle, from initiation through delivery and closeout. • Experience managing government contracts or working with government clients. • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, technical teams, and stakeholders. • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar). • Experience with risk management, change management, and issue resolution. • Self-motivated with ability to work with little supervision. • Strategic thinker who also excels at tactical execution. • Team-oriented with a mission-focused mindset. • Ability to obtain a security clearance. • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred. • Advanced degree in a technical field or business management. • Knowledge of developing, interpreting, and executing government contracts. • Experience leading large-scale, complex technical programs. • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing, rapid repair, or expeditionary maintenance technologies. • Demonstrated experience working with and leading a multi-disciplinary team(s). • US military active duty engineering, logistics, or equipment maintenance experience.
