Position Summary:

The University of Dayton Research Institute invites qualified applicants to apply for our Program Manager, Materials Sector opening! The Program Manager supports the Materials Sector by managing the execution of assigned research projects, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and technical requirements. This role works closely with technical staff, Financial Analysts, and Business Operations to coordinate day-to-day project activities across technical execution, customer deliverables, and quality-related efforts.

Responsibilities include tracking project schedules, organizing and formatting technical and financial data, and coordinating cost, schedule, and deliverables to support successful project execution. The position utilizes established PMO processes and systems to maintain project data and inform overall project timelines and performance.

The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring assigned efforts remain on track within defined scope and requirements, including reviewing deliverables prior to submission and supporting customer interactions through preparation and presentation of project-related information, as requested. This role operates within a structured PMO environment and contributes to consistent and compliant execution across projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business and a minimum of 3–6 years of experience supporting and coordinating project execution in a financial or program management environment.

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects within a structured environment, including coordination of cost, schedule, and deliverables.

Experience working within established program management or project controls processes, including maintaining project documentation and supporting routine reporting requirements.

Hands-on experience using Deltek Costpoint for project setup, data validation, and project financial tracking.

Working knowledge of contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M) and ability to support execution in compliance with contractual requirements.

Strong attention to detail, including a consistent track record of producing accurate, well-organized documentation and error-free deliverables.

Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, financial analysts, and administrative staff.

Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple efforts.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of standard reports, briefings, and deliverables.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Active Secret security clearance.

Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Experience supporting Department of Defense or Air Force research programs.

Familiarity with project financial tracking, including basic forecasting and variance identification.

Experience supporting subcontract or vendor coordination activities.

Exposure to project management tools, dashboards, or reporting systems used to support program execution.

Experience working with UD and/or UDRI systems.
