Associate Research Engineer Air Vehicle Optimization - 4229
The Air Vehicle Optimization Group at UDRI is a diverse team of skilled engineers and scientists who work closely with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop, prototype, and test numerical models, software, and hardware for the multidisciplinary design and analysis of aerospace vehicles. The group brings together specialties in Aerospace, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics to combine state-of-the-art engineering tools with innovative ideas to support future aircraft design methods from conceptual design through flight testing. A few of the projects the group currently supports include: Computational Aircraft Prototype Synthesis (CAPS), Missile Enhancement via ReconfigurabLe Interceptor Nose (MERLIN), Efficient Supersonic Aircraft Vehicle (ESAV), X-56, and XQ-58A.

You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing data exploitation capabilities and effectiveness. An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art machine learning techniques to reveal new insights and research new applications. They will also enjoy manipulating data and performing exploitations such as data analysis, manipulation, object detection, feature extraction, object classification, and object tracking. This position also features a secondary focus on hardware implementation of data exploitation algorithms on low size, weight and power (SWaP) hardware. This also includes integrating hardware, sensors, etc on to custom payloads to support field and flight testing.

They will also have experience with writing analysis tools and providing end-users meaningful insights into how a simulation is running.
