Position Summary: The primary position responsibilities include the synthesis of hydrocarbon-based small (C7-C16) molecules using traditional batch protocols as well as emerging processes, such as continuous flow chemistry. The position will focus on identifying and optimizing small-scale reactions for the discovery process of desired molecules, with subsequent development of capabilities and protocols to efficiently scale-up and produce larger volumes for test and evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications:

P2 minimum requirements:

A minimum of three years of directly related experience is required.

An advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Chemistry or related relevant field (Chemical Engineering, Fuel Science, etc…) with direct experience in organic synthesis of hydrocarbon molecules.
Familiarity and experience with analytical characterization techniques for liquids and solids (e.g., NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, UV/Vis), including analytical characterization of synthesized molecules and intermediates.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Due to the nature of this position, applicants must be a U.S. Citizens and capable of securing a satisfactory National Agency Check with Inquiries.

Familiarity and experience with analytical characterization techniques for liquids and solids (e.g., NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, UV/Vis), including analytical characterization of synthesized molecules and intermediates.

Preferred Qualifications:

Direct experience with continuous flow chemistry.
Experience with continuous flow chemistry, catalytic hydrogenation and reforming of hydrocarbons, and small molecule purification is desired. Experience with process scale-up and implementation.
Previous supervisory experience.
