Position Summary:

The University of Dayton's Marian Library is hiring! We invite qualified applicants to apply for our Art Collection Specialist opening. This is a full time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance for you and your dependents, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay.

In support of the art collection, this position will collaborate with the Visual Resources Librarian to contribute to exhibits, registration of new acquisitions, collection management, purchase and loan documentation, and input to improve the art database. This position will contribute to areas of Marian Library operations including but not limited to research assistance, outreach and marketing, and interacting with visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Ability to work well as part of a team and under own direction
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
Proficiency with Google or Microsoft or similar office tools including spreadsheets, email and calendar
Excellent written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

College level courses in art history or a related field
Experience working in a library, archives, gallery or museum setting
Excellent oral communication skills
Customer service experience
Experience with collection management system software such as EmbARK, The Museum System (TMS), PastPerfect, or a related program
Experience or familiarity with the principles and practices of collection and exhibition management
Experience or familiarity with art handling, storage, packing, and transportation for works of art in all mediums
Ability to evaluate works of art for the purposes of cataloging and condition reporting
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Ability to apply creative methods to solve installation problems with an attention to detail
Willingness to engage respectfully with Catholic Marianist materials and educational goals
