Position Summary: |
The University of Dayton invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Research Accounting. The Director, reporting to the head of Business Services, serves as a key business leader and strategic role within UDRI, supporting the University as a whole as well as the University of Dayton Research Institute. This is a highly visible, dynamic position interacting regularly with senior university administration officials, professional staff, and outside constituents at an exciting time in the continued growth of UDRI and the University. The Director of Research Accounting is responsible for the leadership and management of the Research Accounting Office. Primary responsibilities include oversight of the UDRI month-end close process; monthly, quarterly and annual billings; collection of accounts receivable; monthly reporting; cost centers; and timecard processing related to invoicing and payroll. The Director of Research Accounting is a key member of the team that develops/refines and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues, and to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate. This position will interface with UD and UDRI Leadership to provide financial updates, reports, and analyses. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor's degree • 12 + years of finance and accounting experience • 5 + years of supervisory experience • 5 + years of work experience with government billings and contract closeouts • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with federal government cost accounting standards • Demonstrated experience of successfully managing finance accounting, budgeting, control, audit, compliance and reporting within a complex financial environment • Experience overseeing compliance with financial management and reporting for Federal and State awards • Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship is required • Valid drivers license with low risk driving record

Preferred Qualifications: |
• Master’s degree or MBA • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Defense Financial Manager or other recognized third-party certifications • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint Financial System Software • 5+ years’ experience with a government contractor • Experience with Ellucian Banner Finance System • Demonstrated expertise in working with grants, contracts, MOUs and similar legal instruments
