Position Summary:

The Upward Bound Program at the University of Dayton is a pre-college preparatory program for Dayton area high school students who would be the first in their families to attend college. College readiness, academic excellence, and character development are the focus for participants in the Program. The Summer Academy is an intensive 6-week enrichment program where students take classes to sharpen their academic skills while residing on campus at the University of Dayton to have a collegiate experience.

The Upward Bound Program Summer Academy Tutor-Counselor lives in the residence hall June 5th - July 20th and is responsible for daily supervision of assigned students in the residence hall, classrooms, and off-campus on cultural outings; providing programming, activities, and guidance to high school students in the Upward Bound Program.

Summer Academy with training is from June 5th to July 19th, 2025. This is a residential position that is scheduled from Sundays 5pm to Fridays 5pm for five weeks, with an overnight trip during the 6th week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled college student with at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale with a major in education, social sciences, business, math, or science field. Experience with communication, activity planning, and conflict management.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

At least one year experience with urban high school students. Previous residence life experience. Experience with Upward Bound Programs.
