Position Summary:

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Dayton invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions beginning on January 1, 2022.

The Department of Computer Science offers a stimulating academic environment with active research programs in growing areas of computer science. Recently, the Department has relocated to a brand new state-of-the-art facility with numerous cutting-edge research labs and classrooms, and a commitment to further expand and grow the faculty and student opportunities. The department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, and also a certificate in Autonomous Systems and Data Science.

The Computer Science department has experienced significant growth at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with an increase in the number of courses that need to be taught. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of four lecture courses per term. Teaching loads may vary depending on the research activities and other responsibilities assumed by the faculty member.

We seek experts committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. The individuals holding these positions are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent related field. This is a full time visiting faculty position that is eligible for benefits. The position will include travel funds, opportunities for faculty development, and student assistant support.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field.
• Articulated commitment to excellence in teaching
• Potential for quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Effective written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science.
• Successful experience working with and teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
• Sensitivity to Catholic and Marianist educational values.
• Successful experience working collaboratively with various constituents.
• Successful experience teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Effective classroom management skills
