Position Summary:

This position offers a variety of onsite projects on a 432 acre urban campus.

This position is a mid – senior level Construction Manager. This person will be responsible for overseeing multiple concurrent construction projects from start to finish. Construction projects will typically involve interior renovation of existing spaces and building infrastructure, but will occasionally involve management of major new construction projects. Projects will range in size from $100,000 - $50,000,000 in construction cost. Typical tasks will include programming, estimating, scheduling of work, bidding to multiple contractors, and coordinating contractor's activities with building occupants and other University Departments. This position will frequently supervise the contract of consultant engineers and architects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering,
Architecture or closely related field
• 5 years of progressive full time experience including field experience working for a General Contractor, Construction Manager, a professional Engineering, Architecture firm or experience as an Owner’s representative
• Experience with the following:
o Preparing construction documents including: estimates, specifications, drawings and schedules
o Preparing bid documents and managing bidding
o Organizing and prioritizing multiple concurrent assignments and performing under pressure
o Reviewing bids, shop drawings, requests for information (RFI ' s), change orders and
other contractor correspondence

• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Working knowledge of construction site safety guidelines
• Software Knowledge: Scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera (etc), Microsoft Office, email and calendaring software (Gmail), AutoCAD 2012 (or newer)
• Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low-risk driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• More than 5 years of progressive full time experience including field experience working for a General Contractor, Construction Manager, a professional Engineering, Architecture firm or experience as an Owner’s representative
• Direct experience in construction management or construction supervision on a university campus
• Construction Document Technician (CDT) certification
• Construction Contract Administrator (CCA) certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Experience with American Institute of Architects (AlA) and/ or Associated General Contractors
of America (AGC) documents and contracts
• OSHA 10 hour or 30 hour safety certificate
• Software: Revit, Sketchup, PhotoShop, Illustrator
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
