Position Summary:

Facilities Management & Planning is responsible for the care and maintenance of over 5.5 million square feet of academic, research, residential, administrative & athletic facilities, on a 432 acre urban campus. Join our team as a Preventative Maintenance Specialist!

The Preventative Maintenance Specialist performs skilled preventative maintenance and repair of building systems, including: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. May at times be required to work in adverse weather conditions and in various temperatures.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated strong mechanical skills, including rigging.
Demonstrated ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools.
Demonstrated general knowledge of electrical/HVAC/Plumbing systems, and the replacement or repair of basic components.
Three years of recent experience performing work as described herein.
Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low risk driving record.
Carry out all work in a safe manner, as indicated by industry standards.
Ability to provide accurate written documentation in a clear/concise/professional manner.
Maintain on going communications with supervisor to insure timely, complete, and accurate exchange of information regarding the status of work orders.
Maintain industry standards with respect to the quality of work.
Maintain and organize tools/vehicles in a professional manner as directed by supervisor.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, or on small teams, with limited supervision.
Be comfortable with working at heights.
Fork lift certification or acquire within 9 days.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must possess sound judgement, have demonstrated professionalism, creativity, and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Prefer institutional experience.
Demonstrated ability to use computer and software programs, including: TMA (work order systems) and the Johnson Controls Metasys system.
