Join the Housing and Residence Life team as an Assistant Director of Residence Life West Campus in leading community development and the residential experience for upper-division students located in engaging student apartments and a dynamic 450-house student neighborhood at the University of Dayton.

The Assistant Director of Residence Life for West Campus is a member of the Housing and Residence Life leadership team and the Dean of Students office who is responsible for supervising, overseeing and evaluating the professional, graduate, paraprofessional and administrative/clerical staffs in Garden Apartments, the South Quad living area, and the North and South Student Neighborhoods. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Residence Life and in concert with the University's Mission and Housing and Residence Life's Vision for Residential Learning, the Assistant Director of Residence Life for West Campus will oversee the implementation of the department's residential curriculum for second year and upper division students in residence. This position will also collaborate with the Housing and Residence Life senior leadership to establish and maintain partnerships with external neighbors and constituents. As a representative of the Dean of Students office, the Assistant Director of Residence Life for West Campus serves a supervisor for the Housing and Residence Life on call rotation to provide staff on call with after hours support, supervision, and assistance, responds to students who have threatened to and/or attempted to commit self harm, serves as a resource for students who have been accused of violating the student code of conduct and supports community members who have been impacted by disruptive behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree.
Five years post Master's professional experience in residence life.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office word, excel, power point.
Experience working with an increasingly diverse campus community.
Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice.
Experience in supervising undergraduate staff.
Experience in adjudicating student conduct.
Experience in responding to and managing emergency situations as part of an on call crisis rotation.
Experience in managing departmental budgets.
Experience in planning, organizing or implementing staff development and training programs.
Experience in presenting information to a variety of constituents.
Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Master's Degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field.
Six or more years post Master's professional experience.
Familiarity with and value for Catholic Higher Education.
Demonstrated successful experience in supervising professional, student desk, graduate and administrative/clerical staff.
Demonstrated successful experience in cultivating and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and practices in higher education.
Demonstrated experience in analyzing, synthesizing, or summarizing data.
Demonstrated experience in handling multiple projects, setting priorities and meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance.
Demonstrated experience with conflict management and resolutions practices (i.e.; mediation, restorative justice). Evidence of strong organizational skills.
Evidence of strong problem solving skills.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
Evidence of training on managing situations involving self harm, sexual violence, and supporting students who have been accused of violating the student code of conduct.
Evidence of training on the Title IX investigation process.
