Position Summary:

The University of Dayton, a top-tier Catholic research institution, seeks an exceptional Stockroom Manager to oversee our stockroom operations within the Facilities Management & Planning division. This pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring efficient inventory management, streamlining supply chain processes, and maintaining a well-organized and secure stockroom environment.

Reporting to the Director of Business Operations & Administrative Services, the individual in this position will be responsible for the daily activities of the Facilities Management Stockroom including inventory control, reporting, and supplier management. Manages the Stockroom Storekeeper in all activities related to the day-to-day operations in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations. Is responsible for purchases that exceed $1.2M annually, a stock inventory valued over $300K, and over 3,000 stocked items. Evaluates the layout and design of the storeroom, considering factors such as stock turnover, size and weight and makes recommendations regarding non-usable, slow-moving and excess stock to management. Resolves discrepancies between inventory and stock-control records. The Stockroom Manager also maintains an awareness of, and puts into practice health and safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. At least two years’ documented experience in inventory management in a stockroom or warehouse environment.
3. Knowledge/experience of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and work order/purchase order processes.
4. Knowledge/experience using a time keeping system such as Kronos or similar.
5. Knowledge of facility maintenance materials and terminology, including but not limited to; HVAC, boiler, electric, plumbing, carpentry.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to develop and maintain accurate reports.
7. Ability to execute sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
8. Strong interpersonal/customer service skills, specifically with regards to service issues; ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
10. Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
11. Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low-risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management, logistics, or related field.
2. Experience working with TMA.
3. Experience working with a unionized workforce and the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement.
4. Experience working in a higher education environment.
