Position Summary:

Unlock Your Passion for Groundbreaking Research at the University of Dayton! The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research Scientist to join our prestigious Fuels & Combustion division. This unique opportunity will allow you to contribute to cutting-edge research projects and push the boundaries of scientific discovery.

Performs research on jet fuel with emphasis on chemical analysis techniques such as gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. Develops and operates quantitative analytical techniques for measuring components of interest in fuels. Coordinates fuel / additive blending. Maintains chemical laboratory equipment and supplies. Coordinates safety and logistical efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, related scientific field, OR four years of equivalent laboratory experience, with a minimum of three years of relevant fuels experience
• Ability to work safely in a professional, chemical laboratory setting
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Familiarity with ASTM and MIL test methods, e.g., D1655, D4054, D7566, MIL-DTL-83133
• Proven ability to collaborate with diverse group of professional researchers and customers
• Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to maintain a security clearance are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• MS in Microbiology or related scientific field, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience working in a fuels laboratory
• Proficient performing solid phase extraction, ignition quality testing, density, viscosity, and GC-NCD/SCD analysis
• Demonstrable experience setting up and maintaining Air Force laboratory safety/logistical requirements
