Position Summary:

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a dynamic Tool Crib / Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our Sustainment Tech Transiti division. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research environment dedicated to advancing sustainable technologies and solutions.

This position will manage the activity of the tool crib and direct support staff with a variety of manual and administrative tasks. The tool crib attendant gives out tools and consumables and tracks them to make sure they are returned at the end of the day. In this role, the job duties include keeping an accurate inventory of the tools and consumables, and storing them properly. This also includes organizing the tool crib, managing coil (vending) machines, managing a chit-exchange process, bar coding, setting minimum and maximum inventory levels, inspecting the equipment to make sure they are in good condition and report those that are worn, damaged, lost, or unsafe to use. Work with vendor to order replacement tools to replenish the supply in the tool crib or repair tools that are only slightly damaged. In addition this roles will perform preventive maintenance on auto and manual mills, grinders, band-saws, EDM wire machines, and other machines found in a machine shop. The position will be responsible for managing scrap, and perform general cleaning in and around the machine shop and operate Ipsen vacuum furnace and Delta H furnaces upon completion of training.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of high school graduation or its equivalent plus a minimum of three years of related technical experience, is required. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related
• Minimum of 5 yrs experience in supply chain logistics, inventory control.
• Minimum of 6 month doing P.M. on Haas and Mitsubishi machines.
• Familiar with timekeeping and recording in ERP system.
• Familiar with 5S methodology
• Product knowledge gained through experience with manufacturing or industrial supply.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experienced forklift operator.
• Knowledgeable with inventory control methods and processes.
• Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to accel in high pressure and fast paced environments.
• Knowledge of MS Office suite of programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Product line knowledge.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
