The Assistant Director, Annual Giving and Digital Philanthropy is responsible for planning, implementing and managing two key annual giving programs at the University of Dayton: the Digital Philanthropy Center (DPC), our phonathon program, and Flyer Funder (crowdfunding).

The Assistant Director will collaborate with both the director of annual giving and new donor initiatives and the assistant director of annual giving, student philanthropy and young alumni giving to manage, plan and organize telephone and digital fundraising efforts on behalf of the annual giving team. Their scope of responsibilities includes the management of student supervisors (where applicable) and recruiting, hiring and training of student fundraisers, known as DPC associates. The associates will, under the Assistant Director’s supervision, leverage UD’s engagement platform to deliver personalized outreach to a diverse pool of UD alumni and parents via phone, email, text and direct mail. These interactions will build relationships, generate interest, and connect alumni and parents with their passions to attract funding for scholarship, experiential learning and faculty-led innovative programming.

Flyer Funder, UD’s crowdfunding program, allows faculty, staff and students to raise funds for experiential learning opportunities, research programs and more. The Assistant Director will have full oversight of Flyer Funder, including promotion of the program/recruitment of project groups, training approved project teams, content development, fundraising support and stewardship of donors.

- Working under the general direction of and reporting to the director of annual giving and new donor initiatives, specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating a strong engagement culture by hiring, training and leading a team of DPC student associates and supervisors.
- Providing encouraging staff motivation and retention.
- Leveraging industry insights to develop and execute a daily strategy for constituent outreach with DPC student staff.
- Evaluating and adjusting fundraising efforts and establishing benchmark reports to monitor goals, participation and retention.
- Coordinate follow-up communication with annual giving staff. This includes management of the pledge reminder process.
- Utilizing the VanillaSoft engagement platform to deliver personalized outreach to every constituent via phone, email, text and direct mail.
- Data analysis and project reporting, including forecasting and projections.
- Setting, meeting and exceeding goals; tracking progress and statistical trending.
- Digital Philanthropy Center-specific Human Resources.
- Actively monitoring Digital Philanthropy Center’s specific budget.
- Collaborate on all aspects of the Flyer Funder crowdfunding program, including project recruitment, training, content development and stewardship.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans to maximize dollars raised through and participation in, UD's Day of Giving, calendar year-end initiatives, fiscal year-end initiatives and key University projects.
- Performs daily, weekly and long-term statistical analysis to produce strong results for the annual giving team and meaningful connections with constituents supporting the institution.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.
Three years of experience in nonprofit or higher education.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong supervisory and leadership ability demonstrated in past work experience.
Organizational skills that support successfully managing a multi-faceted engagement center and accompanying student staff.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Must be willing to work some evening and weekend hours to accommodate the calling schedule.
Valid driver's license with low risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Engagement or calling center and/or annual fund management experience.
Experience working in a higher education fundraising environment.
Experience utilizing calling software (i.e., VanillaSoft, CampusCall, etc.).
Proficiency in using advancement-related databases and/or fundraising platforms (i.e., Salesforce, Affinaquest, GiveCampus, etc.).
University of Dayton graduate.
