UDRI is seeking a qualified Senior Facilities Specialist to support facilities management, research and manufacturing activities. The successful candidate will supervise installation and set-up, and will monitor and maintain facilities and support equipment, including environmental controls, purified water systems, process equipment, chillers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, power conditioners, various types of compressors, transformers, PLC’s, motor control components, etc. Technical tasks will include identifying system errors, managing OEM help desk guidance, and supervising repairs by contract services on automated mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Facilities technician will develop, maintain and procure an inventory of spare parts, specialty maintenance hand and power tools, equipment and supplies as required to streamline processes and increase efficiency. The candidate will also assist facilities management and engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facilities processes, and commission new equipment and processes, and maintain overall facility reliability.

Minimum Qualifications: |
•High school graduation or trade school equivalent plus a minimum of eight years of related technical experience is required • Advanced knowledge of automated environmental, electrical, and mechanical systems • Advanced experience with troubleshooting process systems and relaying technical data to OEM representatives • Working knowledge of applicable code and laws in relation to electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, etc. • 5 years min of experience in facilities operations • Completion of 10-hour OSHA training • Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills • Customer service oriented • Demonstrated organization skills and detail oriented • Self-motivated, and able to multi-task • Must be a team player and able to work with and through others at all levels of the organization • Demonstrated problem solving ability • Experience leading and working projects with general contractors and sub-contractors • Thorough knowledge reading and interpreting construction drawings and CAD data • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and CAD program files • Highly organized and attention to detail • Expert use of hand, power tools and powered facilities equipment including forklifts and scissor lifts • Excellent time management skills • Valid drivers license with low risk driving record - must qualify for University of Dayton drivers certification • Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• Associates Degree in applicable field of study or a minimum of 10 years directly related experience in facilities operations • Completion of 30-hour OSHA training • Experience with procurement of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems • Expert knowledge of automated equipment, PLC’s, motor control components, etc. • Completion of apprenticeship program or other skilled trades program • EPA refrigeration certification • HVAC/R universal refrigeration license • Proven experience in customer facing roles • International Facility Management Certification
