Position Summary:

Are you a creative writer passionate about finding the right words to influence and educate your audience? Join the University of Dayton's highly collaborative Advancement Marketing and Communications team! Use your skills as a strategic storyteller to craft content that elevates the University's brand and highlights the impact of donor generosity. As part of University Marketing and Communications, the copywriter researches, writes and edits materials (including fundraising appeals, stewardship reports, student and alumni blog stories, email marketing campaigns and web copy) that ensure key messages reach, engage and persuade target audiences, including alumni, parents, students and donors. This position is a member of a creative team that collaborates closely to support the marketing needs of the Division of Advancement, including producing compelling and persuasive content that inspires philanthropic support and deepens alumni engagement. The copywriter will produce compelling, high-impact marketing materials that are delivered on time and align with all content specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, communication or a related field.
Experience in professional writing, copywriting, or marketing and communications.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
A strong portfolio of work showcasing a variety of written content for different audiences and platforms.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to follow through and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Experience in a non-profit, higher education or advancement setting.
Experience writing for fundraising or development-focused campaigns.
Proficiency in AP style.
Demonstrated ability to generate innovative solutions to marketing and communication challenges.
Knowledge of web content management systems.
