Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to conduct research activities on synthesis chemistry experiments. The candidate is expected to use synthesis chemistry methods to synthesize graphene oxide and other carbon based nanomaterials under the direction of senior scientists in the group. In addition to the synthesis skills in nanomaterials research, a candidate with hands-on experience in microbiology is preferred. The candidate needs to work across the project teams that includes chemists, research engineers and microbiologists. The candidate is expected to give presentations of his/her work and write reports. The candidate is also expected to work with senior scientists of the group to write proposals and papers in peer reviewed papers. The candidate maintains clean and safe lab environment and follows safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Ph.D in Chemistry or related field (Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Biochemistry, etc.)
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with synthesis background is required.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in organic synthesis and characterization
- Experience with carbon nanomaterials synthesis and
Characterization
- Experience with basic microbiology techniques
- Experience with metal nanoparticles synthesis
- Experience with TGA, FTIR, UV/Vis and Raman
- Basics computer skills in Microsoft office software, Sigma plot and Chem Draw and etc.
- Basic Laboratory management, assist with chemical inventory, shipping, receiving and Lab safety skills.
