As we enter into a comprehensive fundraising campaign, we are growing our exceptional team of passionate, mission-driven Advancement professionals, looking for a Prospect Research Coordinator who will support the fundraising and engagement efforts as part of the Prospect Research team.

The Prospect Research Coordinator position reports to the Assistant Director of Prospect Research. The successful candidate is responsible for providing in-depth research on current and potential donors for the University of Dayton. The candidate will be responsible for researching public assets (real estate, securities, business valuation, etc.) for individuals, companies, and foundations to determine a suitable giving capacity range and summarize that information into well-written prospect profiles. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting fundraisers with prospect identification and general portfolio maintenance. The candidate will be required to use public and subscription databases for research, be comfortable learning and using a constituent management database, and be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. In addition, the ideal candidate must communicate effectively and be detail-oriented with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment and turn around a high volume of tasks rapidly and accurately.

We are seeking candidates with direct or applicable/transferable skills. We will consider applicants who can show a demonstrated willingness to learn the profession and a commitment to Prospect Research, even if they have no previous experience. Prior experience in fundraising, business research, legal research, writing or libraries will be beneficial.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Research public information databases for real estate, securities, public and private business information on individuals, companies, and foundations to determine a suitable capacity range and summarize the data into well-written profiles for the President, Provost, and Vice Presidents, Deans, Board Members, and other University officials.
• Assist front-line fundraisers with prospect identification and portfolio maintenance
• Use public and subscription databases for prospect research
• Analysis of large datasets and interpret biographical and complex financial information on individuals, corporations, and foundations
• Determine capacity and assign ratings based on publicly available information, including but not limited to insider holdings, real estate, vendor screenings, and ratings
• Develop proficiencies with push notifications and alerts, CRMs including RE and Salesforce Affinaquest.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree
• Five years’ work experience, with at least two years in a non-profit or related field.
• Proficiency in online databases and software tools, including Microsoft Office
• Find and distill data from disparate sources.
• Strong written communication skills, with examples of analytical, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience in higher education fundraising operations.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and consistently meet or exceed deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience indicating a high degree of organization and initiative.
• Attention to detail.
• Advanced Prospect Research skills in fundraising for an academic or non-profit environment following APRA guidelines.
• Campaign experience
• Knowledge of capacity rating systems and experience in providing wealth capacity estimates.
• Experience/ knowledge of current proactive prospecting methodologies, including experience with electronic research tools and techniques.
• CRM experience, specifically Raiser’s Edge/NXT or Salesforce Affinaquest.
• Proficiency in data management software.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to the Catholic Marianist work environment.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
