This position serves in a support role in the Office of Budget and Planning. The Budget Analyst will specialize in the preparation of campus salary budgets and coordinating budget to actual analysis. Assist in development, implementation, and management of operational budgets. Provide direction and counsel to campus personnel to assist them in understanding financial reports, data and University fiscal policies.

Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related financial analysis field • At least two years’ of relevant accounting or budget experience • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective written and verbal communication skills • Ability to create presentations, explain variances, and provide recommendations based on data analysis to diverse audiences • Previous experience handling multiple tasks/projects, setting priorities and meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team or independently as the particular assignment requires • Ability to multi-task while remaining detail oriented • Excellent customer service, ability to manage conflicts, and create an inclusive environment • Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• An advanced degree, e.g. MBA and/or related certifications, e.g. CPA or CFA • Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in analyzing data including one year involving duties such as preparation, justification and analysis or the control and administration of a budget or budgetary process • Relevant experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and financial systems in large complex organization • Experience in higher education fund accounting • Functional knowledge of Banner and Cognos
