Position Summary:

Join the Empowering Children with Hope and Opportunity (ECHO) department as a full-time Mental Health Therapist I today! Staffed by licensed counselors & social workers, ECHO aids teachers and administrators in helping remove non-academic barriers to learning — poverty, exposure to addiction, violence, discrimination, or physical and sexual abuse.

The Mental Health Therapist I will provide individual, group, family, and crisis counseling to
the student's in the schools served. The Therapist will be responsible to teach a Social and
Emotional program to all the classes in the assigned school. Assisting principals and
education staff in the best ways to handle challenging behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Currently in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree in Counseling or Social Work with provisional licensure (Counselor Trainee or Social Work Trainee) in the State of Ohio and preparing to start practicum or internship.
• Experience working with diverse cultures.
• Valid driver's license and low-risk driving record and is insurable by the University.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience working with school-age children in the K-12 setting.
• Demonstrated timely completion of work-related tasks.
• Knowledge of Catholic schools and their culture.
• Demonstrated successful experience working independently and productively.
• Demonstrated successful experience working as part of a team.
• Successful demonstration of flexibility in day-to-day activities.
• Demonstrated successful experience building and sustaining relationships and partnerships with school staff and the community.
• Student in the counseling department at the University of Dayton.
