Position Summary:

The University of Dayton Research Institute’s (UDRI) Autonomy Systems Group is in search of motivated, innovative team members to further ongoing government research in autonomous agent development and third wave artificial intelligence context modeling. The qualified applicant will join our technically diverse team that includes computer scientists, engineers, operations researchers, and cognitive psychologists. We create user environments that enable decision makers to visualize, evaluate and compare possible courses of action for dynamic planning applications. Users interactively tune the space of alternatives via spoken commands and graphical interfaces, and autonomous agents use contextual cues together with knowledge representations and reasoning to evaluate options and inform user choices.

The role applies proven problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to developing and integrating software for autonomy services such as: autonomous agents, user interfaces, code generation tools, natural language processing, and task monitoring. Work will include varied contributions to research projects with mentoring and oversight from more senior researchers.

Our research software is built upon industry-standard operations development practices including continuous integration, containerization, issue management, and artifact deployment. Strong applicants will be team-oriented self-starters capable of working effectively on their own or in small groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Data Analytics or similar discipline (or equivalent professional experience)

Experience with ONE OR MORE of the following:
* Software development in object oriented language (e.g. Java, Python)
* Logic or constraint programming (e.g. clingo, prolog, Z3, SAT solvers)
* Planning domain language (e.g. PDDL)

Due to the nature of the work, individual must be a U.S. citizen and willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Demonstrated communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Data Analytics or similar discipline

Applied artificial intelligence and autonomy technologies

Modern software development processes including source control, issue tracking, continuous integration, requirement flow

Metamodeling via domain specific language (DSL) development

Complex event processing tools

Docker virtualization
