Position Summary: The Structural Materials Division in the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking highly motivated and highly talented engineers to perform multidisciplinary research, development, and engineering in the area of manufacturing of polymeric composites and tooling, and the synthesis and characterization of novel polymer, organic, and inorganic materials. The work will involve integrating composite manufacturing technologies and new materials to support low cost manufacturing techniques and new composite structures. This will include conventional as well as state of the art manufacturing techniques and materials in composites, tooling, additive manufacturing, and agile manufacturing. The engineer will be mostly tasked with leading and directing technical projects, and preparation of reports and presentations. However, the engineer must also be able to still perform hands-on experiments; operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; building of testing apparatuses; analysis of data; and purchase of required materials, equipment, and supplies. The engineer will also assist with the building of UDRI business through proposal writing and selling growing capabilities to prospective customers. Therefore we are looking for candidates with various combinations of experience including, but not limited to: technical leadership and management, innovation, CAD design, composite manufacturing, material synthesis and manufacturing, quality control, additive manufacturing, agile manufacturing, and business administration.
Minimum Qualifications:

P2 Qualifications
• Minimum of three years of directly related experience
• A graduate degree in science or engineering from an accredited university
• Ability to perform technical leadership, management, innovation, and business administration
• Ability to perform “hands-on” with moderately physical work in a laboratory or shop environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
• Ability to work well with others and motivate fellow team members
• Ability to think critically and drive a project to completion with little or no supervision
• Ability to properly document technical data generated by work projects
• Experience with composites or material fabrication or synthesis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Due to security clearance requirements of this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

P3 Qualifications

• Ability to perform technical leadership, management, innovation, and business administration
• Ability to perform “hands-on” with moderately physical work in a laboratory or shop environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
• Ability to work well with others and motivate fellow team members
• Ability to think critically and drive a project to completion with little or no supervision
• Ability to properly document technical data generated by work projects
• Experience with composites or material fabrication or synthesis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

• Demonstrated successful experiences of properly documenting technical data generated by work projects which can include published technical papers or reports
• Demonstrated successful experiences in composites or material fabrication or synthesis
• Proficiency in CAD, math software, and computer programming
