Position Summary: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Dayton is looking for an experienced laboratory manager who can independently oversee the teaching activities and operational oversight of the labs. The laboratory manager is expected to function with relative independence and responsibility as well as report directly to the Director of Engineering Labs. The laboratory manager will work with administration, faculty, staff, and students to plan, manage and meet overall objectives and interests of the labs. The laboratory manager will coordinate operational activities in research and teaching laboratories, providing support services to faculty, students, and researchers; will develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for lab operations to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and quality control of the laboratories and compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and standards; will coordinate the ordering, inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, lab ware, and instruments essential to the operation of the laboratories.
Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or an associates degree in Engineering or related field with 5 years related experience. 2 years of technical / administrative experience in research or teaching labs with small scale equipment design, testing and operations with proven technical knowledge and laboratory experience. Excellent written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a diverse academic environment and engineering laboratories Practical hands on skills, be comfortable working in engineering teaching/research labs, and possess basic mechanical and electrical skills for equipment and prototype systems Experience in teaching and assisting laboratory courses related to Civil Engineering curriculum Ability to work independently on design, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems Experience with surveying equipment and methods Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills.
