Position Summary:

This position is located at the UDRI Hangar 01 facility supporting the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). The RSO increases mission readiness by rapidly identifying, applying and scaling technology essential to the operation and sustainment of the U.S. Air Force. Hangar 01 is the lead in bringing together a comprehensive network of new technological methods, processes, and techniques. Success comes from our teamwork and mutual respect for each other’s talents and unique perspectives.

The RSO Additive Manufacturing (AM) team is developing an organic industrial base within the U.S. Air Force by utilizing additive technologies such as 3D printing to produce tooling, fixtures, support equipment, and aircraft parts. Responsibilities include developing new software or modifying existing software and providing technical support with new technologies to create models and diagrams for code needed for an application.

Responsibilities include:
• Working with the Additive Manufacturing (AM) team to support the scaling of projects
• Supporting a multi-discipline team of technical and programmatic experts to facilitate scaling from prototype or commercial application to military use conditions
• Understanding the software role in each program implementation
• Assessing risk and developing mitigation plans for scaling Air Force-wide utilization
• Developing, integrating, and testing software solutions with minimal supervision
• Developing new software or modifying existing software
• Coordinating with operational users, potentially on-site
• Recommending software upgrades for customer’s existing programs and systems
• Designing each piece of an application or system and planning how the pieces will work together
• Creating models and diagrams that show programmers the software code needed for an application or system and planning how the pieces will work together
• Creating models and diagrams (such as flowcharts) that show programmers the software code needed for an application
• Ensuring the program continues to function normally through software maintenance and upgrades
• Coordinating regularly with program manager, chief engineer, and chief architect
• Acting on direction from Chief Architect and Chief Engineer
• No direct supervisory responsibility but will coordinate work with other software and senior software engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
• 5 years’ experience with software development
• Experience with additive manufacturing
• Certifications related to software development Java, SQL, JavaScript, C#, Python
• Effective verbal communication with clients at all levels
• Consistent, professional dress and manner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience with DoD software
• Past experience with DoD software development processes
• Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage various project activities ensuring accurate task completion
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
• Attention to detail
• Highly organized
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Active Secret security clearance
