Position Summary:

PEDIATRIC PSYCHOLOGY: THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track position specializing in Pediatric Psychology with a research program that focuses on psychosocial, developmental, and/or contextual factors related to health and wellbeing in children and/or adolescents at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2022. The person appointed to this position is expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the department, develop and maintain an active research program, and advise and mentor undergraduate students.

The 21-member Department of Psychology offers master’s level programs in Clinical and Experimental Psychology, with contributions to graduate teaching and supervising of master’s theses varying based on departmental needs and faculty preference and interest. Minimum Qualifications:

ABD in Psychology nearing completion of a Ph.D. with a concentration in Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, or a closely related field.

Record of peer-reviewed, published or accepted for publication scholarship in the area of pediatric psychology that examines the psychosocial, developmental, and/or contextual factors related to health and wellbeing in children and/or adolescents.

Potential to teach courses at the undergraduate level that meet the needs of the department, including an integrative social science course related to their research, Child Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.

Ability, interest, and commitment to engage in undergraduate academic advising.

Effective written communication skills.

Experience in college teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology or a closely related field.

Successful experience in one or more of the following:
-- college teaching as the instructor of record
-- working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities

Ability, interest, and commitment to one or more of the following:
-- establish a program of research that involves mentorship of undergraduate students
-- mentor (and/or supervise) undergraduate honors projects and graduate master’s theses
-- develop special topics courses in the candidate’s area of expertise that would support department needs
-- work collaboratively with colleagues in and beyond the department.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.
